Estrogen Therapy

Progesterone Therapy

Progesterone Therapy

In women, estrogen plays a key role in brain health, bone health, and heart health. It can affect every part of the body, including hair, skin, and nails. Around age 40 for most women, perimenopause starts and estrogen starts to decline, which can lead to bothersome symptoms and the development of chronic conditions, like osteoporosis, heart disease, and diabetes. Menopause treatment, including hormone replacement therapy can help to reduce symptoms and help you to live longer and better.

Progesterone Therapy

Progesterone Therapy

Progesterone Therapy

In women, progesterone is essential in sleep and emotional regulation. Around age 40 for most women, the ovaries stop producing progesterone and it can lead to bothersome symptoms that can significantly affect quality of life. Menopause treatment, including hormone replacement therapy can help to reduce symptoms and help you to live longer and better.

Testosterone Therapy

Progesterone Therapy

Testosterone Therapy

While not commonly known, testosterone is essential in women to regulate mood, energy, bone health, and brain function. Around age 40, most women's ovaries stop producing testosterone, which can lead to bothersome symptoms, decrease cognitive function, and have a negative impact on bone and muscle health. Menopause treatment, including hormone replacement therapy can help to reduce symptoms and help you to live longer and better.

Studies show women need to see an average of 5-7 Healthcare Professionals before being diagnosed with perimenopause and still have difficulty finding appropriate treatment. If you're having difficulty finding menopause treatment, you've come to the right place!

Peri/Menopause Can Affect Your Relationships, Work, Productivity, and Self-Confidence.

You don't have to suffer. Menopause treatment can help.

MYTHS AND MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT PERIMENOPAUSE AND MENOPAUSE

Myth: "It's just menopause - every woman goes through it. You'll survive!"

Truth: Hold up. Yes, menopause is natural, but suffering through symptoms for 10+ years isn't some badge of honor. Think about it - we don't tell people with diabetes to just "tough it out" because it's "natural," right?

Here's the game-changer: there are real, FDA-approved treatments that work. Not random internet supplements - actual, scientific solutions that can help you feel like yourself again.

Bottom line: Just because something is natural doesn't mean you have to suffer through it. Help is available, and there's zero shame in taking it.

Myth: "Isn't hormone therapy dangerous and full of side effects?"

Truth: Let's bust this myth wide open. Today's hormone therapy options are safe, FDA-approved, and totally customizable to YOU. We don't just throw prescriptions around - we look at your whole health picture and find what works best for you.

The goal? At least 80% improvement in your symptoms (yes, really!), plus some amazing long-term perks like protecting your heart and bones. And we'll be with you every step of the way, making sure your treatment is working exactly as it should.

Bottom line: There's a solution out there that will work for you - and we'll find it together.

Myth: "Hormone therapy causes cancer - everyone knows that!"

Truth: Okay, this might blow your mind, but the opposite is actually true. Ready for this? HRT can decrease your cancer risk by more than 20% in many cases. Yes, you read that right - DECREASE. (ASK US FOR THE SCIENCE-WE LOVE TO SHARE)

Here's the shocker: your cancer risk might actually be higher WITHOUT hormone therapy. And those scary stories about breast cancer? They're based on outdated information. Today's forms of HRT don't increase your risk of breast cancer or any other cancer.

Bottom line: We've been afraid of the very thing that could help protect us. Wild, right? Sometimes what "everyone knows" isn't what the science shows.

Myth: "I don't have any menopause symptoms."

Truth: Hold that thought! Here's the thing - menopause isn't just hot flashes and mood swings. Those achy joints that you blamed on getting older? That anxiety that seemed to come out of nowhere? The weird ringing in your ears? Surprise... they might all be menopause!

Here's what nobody tells you. Menopause can show up as:
• Joint pain (yep, those creaky knees!)
• Skin changes
• Anxiety and depression
• Insomnia
• Tinnitus (that mysterious ear ringing)
• Changes "down there" (which happen to literally every woman)

Bottom line: You might not recognize menopause symptoms because no one ever taught us what to look for. Mind-blowing, right? Knowledge really is power here!

Myth: ""I'm done with menopause - I got through it!" Truth: Let's get real here. Menopause isn't like a  bad cold that passes - it's more like a permanent change in your body's operating system. Once you hit menopause, your estrogen levels stay low forever. And that matters because estrogen isn't just about hot flashes and mood swings.

Here's the deal: your heart actually needs estrogen (surprise!). In fact, heart disease is the #1 killer of women, and estrogen helps protect us. And those UTIs that seem like just a nuisance? They're actually one of the main reasons women end up in nursing homes - no joke. Without estrogen, your urinary and vaginal health changes permanently, making you more prone to infections.

Also, Your bones strongly disagree. Here's a wake-up call: fractures are one of the main reasons women end up in nursing homes, and estrogen is your bones' natural protection against breaks. Without treatment, you're basically firing your bones' security guard.

The bottom line? Menopause isn't something you "get through" - it's a lifelong change that needs lifelong attention. But hey, knowledge is power! Understanding this helps us make smarter decisions about our long-term health.

Myth: "There's no such thing as a menopause specialist - just talk to any doctor!"

Truth: Actually, there are doctors and nurse practitioners who are specifically trained in menopause care (yes, it's a real specialty!). They've sought out specialty training and know exactly how to handle everything from hot flashes to heart health. Think of them as your menopause GPS - they know all the shortcuts to feeling better and can map out a personalized treatment plan just for you.

Be heard. Be seen. Be understood.

What is Perimenopause and Menopause?

Menopause is one year after the last menstrual period. The body's transition to menopause is called Perimenopause and can last 10 years. For most women, Perimenopause starts in the early 40's but can start as early as late 30's.  During Perimenopause, women can experience hormonal symptoms directly related to the loss of hormones that happen during this transition. While it seems Hot Flashes are the most well-known symptom, there are many symptoms that are not as known and can be surprising. Here are a few:

  • Hot Flashes/Night Sweats
  • Fatigue/Sleep Problems/Insomnia
  • Vaginal Dryness/Itchiness
  • Low Libido
  • Weight Gain, especially around the abdomen
  • Memory Issues/Brain Fog
  • Dry Skin/Itchy Skin/Skin Changes
  • Irregular Periods
  • Incontinence
  • Migraines/Headaches
  • Depression/Anxiety/Panic attacks
  • Bloating/GI issues
  • Itching
  • Hair Loss/Hair Thinning
  • Palpitations
  • Dizziness
  • Tinnitus
  • Joint Pain
  • Muscle pain
  • Inability to gain muscle

Meet Our Providers

Crystal Burke, FNP-C, Co-Founder, and Lead Nurse Practitioner

Crystal, a nurse practitioner with over twenty years in healthcare, discovered her passion for menopause care through an unexpected path. After experiencing unexpected perimenopause symptoms and difficulty finding treatment for herself, she recognized the gap between current research and common understanding of menopause treatment. This personal experience, combined with her background in palliative medicine, led her to co-found The Menopause Clinic, offering both telehealth and in-person care. Drawing from specialized training in Menopause Hormone Therapy and Women's Sexual Health from Drs. Heather Hirsch and Kelly Casperson, Crystal helps women make informed decisions about their perimenopause and menopause care. She is preparing to become a North American Menopause Society (NAMS) Certified Practitioner in June 2025.

Dr. Steven Youngblood, Co-founder and Medical Director

Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr. Youngblood has been practicing in Louisiana since 2005. After witnessing Crystal's journey through perimenopause - where she remained undiagnosed and untreated despite actively seeking medical help - he recognized that women's health during menopause was consistently underserved. This personal experience motivated him to pursue specialized training in menopause hormone therapy and women's sexual health. Along with co-founder Crystal Burke, he established a practice dedicated to providing expert menopause care, challenging the notion that women should simply "get through it."

As Medical Director, Dr. Youngblood combines his medical expertise with a commitment to educating patients about evidence-based, FDA-approved treatment options for perimenopause and menopause. His deep Louisiana roots and specialized training enable him to address the specific needs of local women, ensuring they receive comprehensive support during this significant life transition.
